Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before compressing your images.

Is the image compressor really free?

Yes. ImageCompressly is completely free to use, and you do not need to create an account.

Do you upload my images to a server?

No. Compression runs locally in your browser, so your image files are not sent to ImageCompressly servers.

What image formats are supported?

ImageCompressly supports static JPG and JPEG, PNG, and WebP images. Animated PNG or WebP files are not supported in this version.

Will compressing reduce the quality a lot?

Compression can reduce some visual detail, especially at lower settings. The default 80% setting is designed to balance good visual quality and a smaller file size.

Can I compress multiple images at once?

Yes. Select or drop multiple images, download each result separately, or download all completed images together in one ZIP file.

Is there a file size limit?

For reliable in-browser performance, each image can be up to 50 MB. A batch can contain up to 30 images or 250 MB of source files in total.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. ImageCompressly works in current mobile browsers on iOS and Android. Large images or batches may take longer on devices with less memory.

Does ImageCompressly support HEIC?

Not yet. This version supports static JPG, PNG, and WebP files. Convert a HEIC image to one of those formats on your device before adding it to the compressor.
